Who are we?

Chrysalis Project, incorporating Entabeni Adventures & Expeditions, was founded in 1993 as a provider of learning beyond the classroom. We are based in the

beautiful historic town of Stellenbosch but work at schools, private venues, and wild places around South Africa. We are people-focused and client-led, with unwavering attention on safety and our duty of care for young people. We aim to create opportunities for young people to learn about themselves, our diverse cultures, and the natural environment with a focus on transformation and personal growth.

We have drawn on our 30 year experience of creating adventures for youth to develop multi-day adventures for adults too. After all, adults are most often youthful.

Another benefit of our 30 years in the outdoors is that we have developed a sound understanding of risks associated with adventure and how to treat those risks. To this end we conform to British Standard 8848 and SANS/ISO 21101/2/3 for adventure tourism. Our Director is also participating in the writing of in international standard for managing risk for youth and school trips.

Entabeni Adventures & Expeditions is the only South African organisation to be compliant against British Standard 8848 for international fieldwork & expeditions (BS8848), the leading safety standard of its kind.
